In January, 2014 CCG and it’s partners acquired 8.09 acres from the City of Marina, adjacent to Cal State Monterey Bay on the former Fort Ord military base. The site was improved with a 60-year old 24,000 square foot concrete and steel, former battery warehouse and machine shop along with 9 other smaller wood-frame structures. All structures were taken down, demolished and removed, through a comprehensive demolition and hazardous material management and remediation program.
A 789-bed, LEED-H Midrise student housing facility was developed to serve the students of CSU Monterey Bay. The 278,640-square foot community consists of three 4-story apartment style-buildings. The fully furnished apartments are a mix of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom floor plans. Community amenities include a 7,500-square foot clubhouse with café, computer lab, private and group study rooms, game room and two-story state-of-the-art fitness center. Outdoor amenities include 400 parking spaces, landscaped courtyards, picnic areas with BBQs and basketball court. CSU Monterey Bay initially provided operations and maintenance under a 20-year master lease. In August 2016 the University Corporation at Monterey Bay purchased all three buildings.
