In March, 2016 CCG and its partners acquired an assemblage comprising approximately 1.46 acres in downtown San Jose approximately 1 block west of the main entrance of the San Jose State University campus. After demolition of two commercial buildings totaling approximately 22,000 square feet and site remediation, construction began fall of 2017 on The Grad San Jose, a 19-story high- rise student residential tower located just one block from the campus’ main entrance.
The Grad features 260 fully furnished apartments / 1,039 beds, including a mix of single and double occupancy bedrooms to accommodate different student living preferences. The 543,234 square- foot building includes 17 floors of student residences and a multitude of amenities over a 14,750 square-foot double height retail space, as well as a four-level garage. The garage is topped with a half-acre
recreation deck inclusive of a resort-style pool, spa with lounges and cabanas, Wi-Fi access, several BBQ’s and seating areas, shuffleboard and bocce ball courts, a large outdoor movie screen, beautiful landscaping, and a 2,600 square-foot state-of-the-art fitness center. Academic amenities include, public and private study rooms, computer lab and multi-purpose theater/presentation room. The Grad San Jose welcomed its first student residents fall of 2020.
